Cynergy Publicly Releases First Ever Flex4 + Catalyst Application: Cynergy.Congress

I am very excited to continue Cynergy’s tradition of pushing the limits of Rich Internet Applications (RIA) and designing and building incredible software experiences by announcing the first ever Adobe Flex4 and Adobe Catalyst application seen in the wild. I am really proud to get to introduce Cynergy.Congress, a RIA designed to allow the software design and development community, the nation and the world to explore the United States Congress today, and throughout history. Cynergy.Congress allows citizens from across the world to learn about United States members of Congress, their terms, their policies, their committees, their recent news and even videos of their testimony on the floor.

The impetus for Cynergy.Congress came this spring when Adobe approached Cynergy looking for our input and review of Flex4 and Catalyst, how it fit into our processes and LookFirst™ and our feedback on what it was like to build a real project with the new tools. As the leader in RIA design and development we were really excited to have some of the first opportunities to get our hands on Flex4 and Catalyst and to build out a real application with it and humbled to have been chosen by Adobe. Of all the companies Adobe could have looked to, choosing Cynergy was both humbling, and a sign of our thought leadership in the RIA space. Being headquartered in the Nation’s Capital and with how important donating a lot of our work here at Cynergy out to the community is to all of us here, we thought a Congressional exploration tool sounded like a great idea.

The donations don’t stop with just the app. Adobe will be using this app in many of their Flex4 launch programs starting just a few weeks back in the Flex Camp held out in the bay area. The source code for the app will also be released to the community under an open license allowing you all to download it, modify it, expand it and build your own solutions. We will be sure to post here right away when the project source is distributed by Adobe.

We hope you enjoy Cynergy.Congress and we hope it’s not only a great civic tool, or great example of what Rich Internet Applications and the Flash Platform can do, but what bringing together the kind of incredible designers we have here at Cynergy, with incredible developers and a proven approach like LookFirst can do in just a matter of a few weeks. Yes, the entire solution was built by a team of two in just two weeks. Andrew Trice will be posting here a ton of technical details about how we designed it, built it and deployed it.
